Former House Speaker Paul Renner is going up on streaming and television with a new ad that his campaign says “contrasts his accomplishments with his forward-thinking agenda.”
The “Vision” spot can already be seen online, and a shorter version of the spot will be on television in the coming days.
“This ad is about results over rhetoric, and leadership over lip-service,” said Brett Doster, Chair of Friends of Paul Renner. “While other candidates are campaigning like schoolyard brats, Paul Renner offers substance, vision, and a reason for running that goes beyond personal ambition. You want the adult in the room; you want Paul Renner.”
The long form of the ad runs for a minute, and shows Renner being asked why he is running by a female narrator. It cuts from a pensive-looking candidate standing in dim light holding a binder with his résumé to shots of his time leading the House.
A male narrator reminds viewers that he was a prosecutor, a Navy veteran and a former House Speaker, with the female voice chiming in about school choice.
The artsy open sets up the candidate making a direct stump-speech style appeal to voters, reminding voters of what he’s done.
“We defeated the radical left. We built the Free State of Florida, and we can never retreat. Being Governor’s not some game or political stepping stone. I will eliminate property taxes, stop child trafficking and prosecute the public corruption that steals your money. And I will keep Florida the leader of the nation. I will never back down from defending faith, family and freedom. So help me, God.”
Renner is polling in fourth place in the GOP Governor’s race, averaging 3% support. But this ad, coupled with another one called “Stop the Games,” is a last-ditch attempt to get voters to tune in before it’s too late for this campaign.
