AI Music Generator Suno Announces New Watermarking and Copyright Protection Tools

by admin

Suno, the AI music generation platform, has introduced new measures to watermark AI-created tracks, limit mass downloads, and revise its community guidelines to curb copycat content, as the company faces mounting legal challenges from record labels and artist groups. Co-founder and CEO Mikey Shulman outlined the changes in a company blog post, saying the goal is to promote original creation while expanding access to AI music tools.

The changes come as Suno, which raised $400 million in a Series D round in June, faces lawsuits from Universal Music Group and Sony Music Group coordinated by the Recording Industry Association of America, a recent adverse ruling from a German court tied to licensing agency GEMA, and a class action lawsuit following a data breach affecting 55 million users.
